Fish Frenzy

I never really understand why some people enjoy such grossly overstocked tanks. I don't see any beauty in that set up.

Really? No beauty? Other than overstocked, how would you describe it? Appaling, ugly.

I think it's a great looking tank and frankly don't think it's overstocked at all. It's clear the nutrients are managed well as the corals all seem to be thriving. Most of those fish aren't heavy waste producers anyway.

Nice looking collection, HD video would have been nice.

Thanks guys it's nice to know there's more lovers than haters out there but I guess its early days yet as for my tank I use JBL Bionitrat Ex bags to keep my nitrates down my nitrates are 2 to 5 and I run a lot of Rowa Phos and stays around 0 .02 and has been running four and a half years now with no problems once again thank you all

I never really understand why some people enjoy making snide comments when they, apparently have no real interest in what someone else has shared.

Then again, maybe I'm doing the same thing out of frustration because I get tired of seeing, amongst the majority of polite and informative, so many snippy comments all over these message boards.

Back to the OP! The fish and the corals look great. With the way you aquascaped the DT, the amount of water flow and the height of your aquarium along with the particular fishes, it almost appears as if you planned to have a heavy fish load that use different parts of the water column :)

Looks to me like a lot work that has paid off very very well.

Thats like my dream tank or i should say one of my dream tanks haha. It looks like a little chunk of the ocean. I like the look of all the fish. What size tank is it? just curious

Thanks guys it's so nice to know that there's people out there that's not scared to speak up to people that just Wanna shoot you down that's why there's a lot of people out there that don't like using forums because there scared to be criticise by certain people at the end of the day is just a hobby for us all to enjoy and help out each other when we can . people like yourself will give confidence to other people to join in again thank you

And this is mild compared to some of the LED vs other lighting systems threads:uzi:

Admittedly, I have held off from commenting before just because I don't want to get in the middle of their bickering and appear to choose a side. That's why hobbies are great and obsessions are not.

Couple of questions for you:
How long have you had your tank?
What size is it?
Is there anything in particular that you would credit for the success of your aquarium?

i think it looks great, congrats. a successful tank with larger stock likely means more detailed/particular and dilligent tank care/observation, more efficient equipment, better planning. i too have a tank that many may consider over-stocked with fish. to answer that hater's post, the beauty of this is the hobbyists ability to create a system that can sustain a healthy diversity and population. there is a challenge, a responsibility, and a great reward that comes with this.

tell us more about your system Tap...

As for taking credit for the success of the tank is quite simple really by testing all my stats on a weekly basis I can keep them in check as close as possible and having a good circulation through the tank I also do a weekly water change of 5% and siphoned clean the top layer of sand, my external filters are cleaned every four weeks and my surface skimmer twice a week my tank has been running for 4 1/2 years now I never had Hair Algae or Canyo so far fingers crossed also I would like to add i've been doing Marines on and off since the mid 70s and I'm still always learning.

I enjoyed seeing your video. OK, yes, tank is probably over-crowded, but all the fish look pretty healthy! Frankly, my first though was 'how does he keep all those fish in that one tank without starting world war III?' Particularly those black and white damsels. Had one of them in a 180 a while back and it was among the meanest fish I have ever kept.

Couple of your fish will outgrow the tank though - sailfin and the Naso - but until then, enjoy!

Hi there
The humbugs seem to keep to themselves and I too busy keeping each other in check and seemed to like staying in one area close to the rock The rest of the Fish don't seem to be bothered by them but I do know what you mean They can be aggressive but I think it depends on the size of your tank and the way that you Lay your tank out thanks for your comments
