my pseudocromis jumped out of the front on my nano and into the back yesterday...he was covered in mostly water, i found him and put him back in the tank...and it appears he may have hurt is tail fin...he has been hiding under a rock for about a day and a half now, but is still alive...but wont eat...my question is

is there anything to add to the water, or that i can do to help him heal or eat...has force feeding a fish ever happened or worked

i only ask because this is the first fish i got when i started the hobby over a year ago, and i would hate to lose him...pls help

Ordinarily I don't feed live brine shrimp because they're nutritionally poor, but sometimes they can pique the appetite of a 'down' fish. Your other fish will be after them; he may gain courage. Don't worry too much: fish are frequently not fed for two weeks during commercial shipping. But get him eating as soon as you can, and keep his environment fairly quiet and normal: above all don't go after him to see how he's doing: let him hide. Turn off the filtration when feeding live brine, or they'll be into your filter doing your fish no good.

I would try frozen mysis shrimp - nutrientally superior to brine -soak them in selcon/vita-chem/zoecon - then feed him directly with a turkey baster

he can't "heal himself" if he's not eating.

you can try to "spot feed" him after you turn off the lights, just with room lights - he may be more comfortable feeding when no-one can see him

I've also had great luck with mela-fix -

I've treated bullies fish with torn fins, that aren't eating this way and have had good luck

good luck!

Well you could always add stress coat ... it helps fish from incurring stress that can lead to ich ... it also helps regenerate nipped fins. Don't force him to do anything ... that will ultimately stress him. The best thing to do is provide a stress free environment. You could also shorten your light cycle so he doesn't have to be on his guard for a long day.
