Fish ideas - Stocklist Help!!!

Hi everyone,

I need ideas on what fishes I can add to stock my tank. I am growing thin on choices and I really want to add some more fishes. They need to have the following characteristics:
1. Have to be colorful fishes
2. 100% Reef safe. I have Turbo snails, Hermit crabs, Cleaner & Blood Fire shrimps, Clams, LPS and Softies.
3. No jumpers as I don't want to keep a lid
4. My sandbed is very thin, so I guess borrowers are out of the question.
5. Current partners will be Purple Tang, Yellow Tang and I will be adding a Yellowstripe Maroon for sure, so no more clownfishes, right?

I think that's it :spin1: My tank is a 200gals display. I would like to get a some wrasse but I heard some of them will kill/eat shrimps, is this correct?

Really appreciate your help and suggestions, as I want to keep more fishes but can't think of many that will meet all criteria above :fun5: Pics are welcome!!!

Thanks.

All of the fish that I can think of offhand that are 100% reef safe and do not munch on crustaceans are known jumpers. These include gobies, dartfish, reef-safe wrasses, reet-safe basslets, blennies, and clownfish. If you are absolutely not going to cover your tanks, DO NOT get a wrasse as it will just be a matter of time before it jumps. It may be in there for months with everything seeming to be fine and just jump on day for no apparent reason even if it is not being picked on.

Other suggestions, maybe Anthias (never had so you would have to ask someone else about jumping and if the maroon clown would bother them), a reef safe angel like Bellus, another tang?, and I am drawing a blank. Like I mentioned, most reef-safe non-crustacean munching fish seem to have a penchant for jumping.

The YSM will possibly terrorize any docile fish you add. There are other clown choices that would be much better community companions.

Also, like Secretive said, you are limiting your choices by having an open top.

Thanks for the input. If I put something to cover my tank, what is the best option to cover it? I am thinking I can use some eggcrate, but does it affect the lighting output to my corals? Some of my options were a Royal Gramma a Halichoeres melanurus and some goby (Firfish, YWG, Midas blenny or Clown Goby). Do you think they will fight with the YMC?

Egg crate won't keep wrasses or gobies in your tank. They can jump through much smaller spaces than you'd think. I have 1/4" bird netting stretched on a frame on all of my tanks.

Wow, didn't know that. I guess I can also tied the net to the eggcrate to avoid that. However, my concern will be how much light output will get directly into my tank after putting the eggcrate/net thing.

The bird netting doesn't block much light. It's made of clear plastic. It does cast a little bit of a shadow, but not much. I consider it a worthwhile compromise to keep my fish off the floor.
