Fish in the overflow - any suggestions

Hi All,

Picked up a few fish from Tim at ABC Reefs last night. Got them acclimated about 2:00AM this morning and went to bed. Woke up this morning and couldn't find the new Carpenter's Wrasse until I caught a bit of color in the overflow with the corner of my eye.

The tank is a 90g perfecto cornerflo. I tried to get her with a net but she is staying between the pipes.

Any suggestion on how to get her out?

turn off your main pump and pull the stand pipes. then swoop with the net. Or try using two nets and poking with one between the pipes. Or the tried and true way get a 22 guage fly hook and break or bend down the barb, throw it on some 2lb test and put a piece of clam on it...

How big is the overflow line to your sump? Carpenters are pretty small, try removing the standpipe that goes to your sump..leave the return in. Use a net where your water flows into the sump and keep your tank running, should wash right down....worked for me if the fish is small enough.

Thanks for the tips. I didn't have to go as far as removing the plumbing. I drained the overflow down to about 3/4" of water and finally got her. I took some temporary precautions to prevent further occurrences. She was new to the tank last night and stressed out today by me poking at her with stick and net. I hope she isn't that stressed.
