fish infested with flatworms?

I have been doing some searching on the boards to see if anyone has had this happen, but can't find much other than tanks infested with things like AEFW.

I have a blue dot jawfish that has one cloudy eye, and white blotches all over his body (not ich). Someone in the industry told me that there has been an outbreak recently of fish from Bali with flatworms. He did not however, know what was needed to treat it.

He's in a hospital tank right now, and I did a prelim treatment this morning (before speaking with my friend) with triple sulfa and neomycin.

Not sure if that's what I should be using though.

Can anyone asist? He's not eating, and breathing is somewhat labored.

Thanks

Antibiotics will only treat bacterial infection. You need some sort of de-worming medication. I have never heard of flatworms infecting fish. Most likely a nematode or trematode. Try a fresh water bath or formalin treatment.

Try to treat with PraziPro, it worked well for me in the past. When all my fish are in QT I treat with this as a precaution.
I would think that a fresh water drip would work as well for the worms on the fish.

Trematodes are flatworms. There are a variety of external flatworms that can infect fish including turbellarians and monogenean and digenean trematodes that are relatively common in imported live stock. Fresh water dips should take care of the problem.
