fish/inverts from the ocean?

Thanks for the welcome everybody. I have visited the site several times and am glad to be aboard!

So far I have released everything I caught (except for some trout, drum, and flounder...mmm...delicious). I don't have a tank set up to keep any local critters right now, but I am going to get some peppermint shrimp when I go oystering this week. I think they will mostly just be food for my puffer, though. I find the shrimp on old oyster covered crab pots, along with black and red/orange bristle stars. I'll see about getting some pictures.

madmatt--i don't think what you are doing is at all unethical, i think its actually really cool. to me it seem like it would be more rewarding to be able to point toward a tank and explain that many or all of the inhabitants are local and that you have mimicked the local environment.

paul--i have seen your tank on here many times and have always admired it, i especially love the beer cans and bottles youve put in. if there were ever to be a nation-wide RC convention/conference, i would hope you would do a seminar, your tank is that good and your knowledge base seems almost untouched by the majority of the hobbyists on the internet.

blue--where at on the coast? my brother lives down below wilmington on KB and i would love to try my hand at catching some shrimp, just for kicks. are there any corals living on the NC coast?

Ratherbefishin, thank you. Maybe I could do a seminar on the rewarding aspects of beer can aquascaping

If you send me full bottles of Grand Marnier I will send you back nice empty bottles to put in your reef :eek1:

This is an unlimited offer.
Paul

Madmatt02, if you live in the U.S. and you're thinking of collecting in Mexico, you'll also have to look into the legality of bringing things over the border.

I do have some pics of the octupi (i think thats ther plural) we found, and some serpent stars, but they are on my computer, and I just moved the other day which is why I havent been back on here, and my computer just decided not to start up, it says something about my cpu internal frequency, my gf's dads gonna come help me try to fire it up tonight then Ill get the web and post em, I think she might have snapfished a couple online so I can find em and post em in a couple days anyways if I dont get my comp running. and yeah Ill have to cross the border. only things weve brought back so far has been blankets/clothes, liquers, tortillias and stuff and never had a problem but that doesnt mean fish will fly. anyways I gotta go home and try something with my pc, later
