fish issues

tonight I noticed one of my Banner fish's eyes are sticking out very far. My gold rim tang has white spots on him. I assume it is ich. I checked my parameters and everything is where it is suppose to be. What is going on here? Will these fish die? Do I need to go ahead and get them out of the tank before they infect the whole tank?

If you can get them out of a 210...you are the man.

Placing them in a tank for treatment purposes would be ideal. I am not very good at fish treatments...maybe one of our resident experts will chime in soon.

If you can get them out that's great, plus any other fish you have in there. And you'll need to set up a quarintine tank 10 -20gal pref , easier to treat ( cost effective too ) . You'll want to treat the ich first, cause that will ( sometimes ) make them stop eating. Sounds like your banner has popeye, which isn't too common with salt but it does happen. I had a squirrel fish with it. Melafix , cured it in a week. Coppersafe will cure the ich, and you'll want to treat seperately . While I don't think there would be a bad mix with the 2 meds I wouldn't want to try it.

Coppersafe works the best for ich, but it's not particular which invertibrate it kills. So not possible in the tank. After 3 weeks with no fish to thrive ( live? ) on the ich in the tank will die. Your parameters didn't cause these problems, most likely you got something new that brought it. Or recently you've gotten something that was hiding in a rock.

more than likely I will have a total wipeout. there is no way I will be able to catch all my fish in this large tank. Will this affect my corals? How long should I wait until I add new fish?

You can use Metronidazole for the Goldrim if it does indeed have ick. It's not as effective as copper but can be used without catching the fish. It can be mixed with food.

Is the eye on the Bannerfish protruding or does it look like just the lens of the eye is?

Is it one eye or both. My chalk bass had one eye protrude and the consensus was that he may have hit it on something. It susbsided without treatment.

I had 2 chalk basses and they both experienced pop eye and made full recoveries with no treatment.

On the other had I had a bartlett anthias that could not recover due to the stress of the dominant male and lost the eye.

Is metronidazole (flagyl) available by prescription only?
