ok so-i have an eggcrate over my tank and my wrasse has managed to jump out through the eggcrate--anyone ever had this happen---what do you do too keep them in the tank if the eggcrate wont work?- i really dont want to have to get a glass top for many reasons are tere any other options?

is an eggcrate a very good way to keep fish in really?
or am i just really that unlucky to have him go through?

thanks

There's a thread around here somewhere about mesh tops which have smaller holes than egg-crate and work really good. Once the search engine isn't so busy I'll try to find it for you.

Garden cloth netting inside a build your own to fit window screen frame. All the materials can be found at Lowes or Home Depot.
I had to even double mine up to keep all of the little ones in.

Go to your local Walmart or anyplace with a fabric section and get some tule. . .I think that's how it's spelled, it's pronounced "tool". It's also known as wedding veil. It will block very little light, and you can stretch it across your egg crate and superglue it in some strategic locations to keep it on there. Nothing's going to jump through that.

Lowes has everything you need to make a frame and screen. Just cut it all to fit and throw it together. I had one on the top of my cube tank for about a year and it worked great.

Hey Dubbin and Uncle Boo.. Did you have any problems with the frames rusting?

Not at all.

I made a wood frame and polyurethaned it a couple times to protect it and then stapled the nylon screen to the frame the screen that I am talking about is the type you would use on a sliding door and it works mint. and costs maybe 10 bucks in materials that is if you have polyurthane if not a small can is pretty cheap
