Fish learning to keep away from spot fed corals?

I have had problems with my tomini tang stealing food from my duncan and people eater zoas after spot feeding.

I always shew him away with the turkey baster. It seems he is learning to keep away and not bother the corals, is this possible?

All you are going to do is get him attacking and tailwhipping the baster. He will not learn. I have the same issues when I feed my mandarin, battling off the tang.

Your best shot is to put food elsewhere to distract him from the corals food.

I think this happens to everyone. A trick I had learned, depending on how big your duncan is or piece your trying to feed...
Take a water bottle or gatorade and cut the bottom off. Put it over the coral and feed it from the hole on the top. Fish won't be able to get in through the hole on the top and you won't even need to worry about current etc. etc.

Traditionally I put a cut piece of plastic over the coral, this has worked well, like you said, its just a pain.

ya know, you could make a pretty cool coral feeding instrument with this idea. Just permanently attach the bottom half of a bottle to the baster...that would probably be pretty easy and since it is attached, you won't have to get wet :)

patent away :D
