Fish limit for nano's

I would remove the clarkii tonight if possible. Simply not a suitable home for it. That being said, I think your YCG and maybe a scarlet cleaner shrimp might be a good list of inhabitants.

DEFINITELY take back the clarkii!
I'd stick with only the YCG. All i have in my 12g is a really small Yellow Watchman Goby

The main reason why that is too small for the clown is because those guys like to eat alot and unless you do a water change after ever feeding then you are going to have a nasty tank in no time. The fish like to swim, and can survie in a small tank, but it will make keeping your chemicals in check a huge pain.

i think its up to the fish. if your fish are acting fine and not fighting then leave it be. i have 4 fish in my 12 gal AP and i know thats too much but they all get along my stats are good. i have 2 black occys, a firefish, and a chalk basslet. your clarkii might outgrow your tank but if nothing is wrong then leave it. thats my 2cents.

You also failed to mention that one of your inhabitants in the tank is a nem. They are incedibly dirty animals. I would recommend that the nem goes aswell, their waste has the potential to foul your water in less than a weeks time. you may be required to do waterchanges every 4 days or so otherwise. IME just because things are all hunky-dory today doesnt mean that next week/tomorrow/tonight things wont take a quick plunge down the pipes. Under no circumstances would I add another fish to the tank, the Clarkii is bound to be very protective of the area around the nem(which in a 6g is the entire tank, which may explain why your YCG doesnt move) This is JM2C.

Yea the clarkii is acting fine not getting agressive and for now he is not to big and as far as i know ycg are suppossed to stay on the rocks.

I mean, you can do what you want, but you asked the ? on here. You got the answers. I guess you can take the answers you want to hear, and go with those... Just because you CAN keep them alive in a 6 gallon doesn't make it right.

Yea i guess your right dont think i'll get anymore fish but im not returning the clarkii. Its fine and its not being agressive so theres no point.

Sorry to see this.

Actually, I think you're missing the point. That clarkii can grow to six inches, and in most of the information sources I've found, the minimum recommended tank size is at least 30 gallons. There's an inherent cruelty involved here. Not meaning to flame you, please understand...but this is a living creature you're confining to a life of unneeded and unnatural discomfort.

But, hey, what do I know. It's YOUR tank...right? And you have to live with the results.:rolleye1: Just my two cents' worth.

Couldn't agree more, Mavvy.

Keeping a fish that gets that big in a six gallon tank just isn't right. It's like keeping an elephant in your garage.

Not to pile on but.......

you can't tell if he's aggressive with just a cowering goby in the tank.

And there is no way to tell if he's fine. He can't tell you.

And unfortunately he will get bigger

I think you should explain to him how to tell that the fishes are fine, instead of leaving a smart alleck comment.

If they are eating, they may be OK. Clowns don't usually get ich from stress so that may not help but I would bet that the fish will be stressed as it grows.

You have any insight as to how to tell if they are fine?
