Fish list. What do you think?

This is just a list I have gathered over time.

Little info on the Tank: 180, with 100 gallon sump full of live rock, and a 30 gallon fuge, with Macro Algae. I have around 600 lbs of live rock, between sump and tank.

The fish below are in no particular order except for the 1st 2.

Couple question
1. Does anyone see an issue with any of these fish compatibilities?
2. With most of these fish being smaller, is this list to big?
3. What order would you put them into the tank? I was thinking by size (smaller to larger).

Fish List
  • Maroon stripe Clown (only fish in the tank at this time)
  • Yellow Coris Wrasse (Main reason I want this fish is because of having zoo's they could possible help if I were to get nudi's)
  • Lawn Mower Blenny
  • Clown Goby, Citrinis
  • Blue Spotted Rabbit
  • Fox Face Rabbit
  • Blue throat Trigger
  • Christmas Wrasse
  • Green Mandarin (Male and Female) (after the tank matures a lot more)
  • Copper Banded Butterfly (after the tank matures a lot more)
  • Couple different Tangs

Let me know your thoughts.

two mandarins and two wrasses in the same tank will starve .likely the mandarins will lose as they are not as aggressive as the wrasses during feeding time .the maroon striped clown i would leave out as he will be extremely territorial with in a couple of years .the rest will work together ans i would simply leave out the mandarins and the clown myself .best of luck to you !

Your maroon is going to beat the tar out of the fish you listed. In my experience (not that I've kept all of the fish listed) and research I've found that the majority of fish you've listed are rather submissive, and your maroon will just intimidate them. I'd find the maroon a new home and go with a less aggressive species of clownfish.

That is a shame.. the clown has been around for about 3 years and is very peaceful at this time (anyhow)

Oh and that sucks about the Mandarins.

In a tank that size with a properly sized/seeded fuge you should be able to keep the mandarins, especially if you feed properly. I currently have a green coris wrasse, potters wrasse and a red margin wrasse and my mandarin is fat and happy, I've never seen her eat prepared foods, only picks at the rock.

Yea with a good fug you should be ok. I have a scooter, and mandarin with 2 wrasse in my 150 and the mandarin seems happy and he is getting a belly on him. I also suppliment with tigger pods every 2 months or so.

If you are going to do a reef and want corals I would skip the clown goby.

With a tank that big, IMO you should be fine with all those. especially once it is established! if they are al small, I would add a couple more. For me fish are more exciting than corals.....

i like the list. the trigger will be cool, i'd worry about the inverts with it....

I find the butterfly awesome, but hard to get established.

I dont know if you have enough LR.... 600 lbs wow. thats $3k in rock at $5 a pound :) Im coming over to steal the LR, forget the TV and the rings...

Yeah I had 340, and I took all Stupids reef two He had close to 300. He doesn't want to sell it and I'm glad. In case he ever wants to get back in to it. The more the merrier

I think this means you are married in some states, Congrats on that!

I don't think think your list is to large by far. I have around 15 fish right now and still planning on adding plenty more. I just added all of my fish slowly.

Also, keep in mind that if you want to keep zoas, you have 2 rabbitfish listed which are know to be potential zoa vacuums (and before everyone jumps in and say theirs don't touch them, I said potential).

Well so far I have add
  • Maroon stripe Clown (only fish in the tank at this time)
  • Yellow Coris Wrasse (Main reason I want this fish is because of having zoo's they could possible help if I were to get nudi's)
  • Lawn Mower Blenny
  • Blue Spotted Rabbit (should be Orange spoted)
  • Fox Face Rabbit
  • Pink Tail Trigger Instead of Blue Throat

Maroon strip has left everyone alone still doesn't bother anyone. He has gotten a lot bigger.

The Yellow Coris Wrasse was doing great but has disappeared. I have check the ground to see if he jumped but have not seen him. Might of went to the sump.

The Fox face did not care for the orange spot face that well, but they are both doing better.

Not really sure what i want next. I do like the elegant wrasse but have not read up to see how reef save they are.

I seem to be more intrested in fish this go around.

I would not put 2 rabbits in a 180. I have one in my 180 that really should be in a bigger tank.

An orange spotted will get up to 16"
