Hello everyone...iv'e been checking out www.livequaria.com lately and i really want to start a FLWR(eventually reef) saltwater tank with a 12g nano cube. Before i even purchase the equiptment..ive brainstormed a fish list & livestock list i think i want to be in my aquarium...

Fish:

1 Tank-Bred Ocellaris (sp?) Clown
1Green Clown Goby

In what order should i add the fish in after my tank is cycled? What do i feed them and how often do i feed them?

Inverts:

Some snails...(how many? and what kind?) Also....should i add them right after my tank is cycled or wait untill i have an algae bloom?

Some Hermit Crabs (how many? and what kind?) When should i add them?

I was also thinking about getting a sand-sifting sea-star...but ive been reading the forum a lot and ive noticed that they starve a lot...so maybe thats not such a good idea...what do you think?

Please give me your opinions! Anything helps :)
Thanks!

I am not going to start this post with the acronym "IMO". You already know that what i am about to say will be my opinion, and i will gladly send you a check for five dollars if you will tell as many people on this site as possible that unless you are citing a source, it isn't neccessary to say "in my opinion".

I digress. Your 12g pod is the same tank i own and i think as far as your livestock choice you should be good to go. I would add you goby first as he will probably be a bit less active and should be less of a shock to your bacterial system. Before that though i would add your cleanup crew.

An assortment of about 5-6 snails should be good to start, plus a few blue leg hermit or scarlet hermit crabs. I like emeril crabs too.

As far as the star goes, if you really want a star in your tank i would go with a red serpent star. They are usually pretty hardy and unless your huma huma trigger its it, or it gets sucked into one end of you powerhead and blown through the other end in large chunks--it should live a long full life in your tank. www.saltwaterfish.com has alot of cool info on snails and crabs that would do well in your tank. You don't neccessarily need to wait for an algae "bloom" but aleast wait till the tank isn't so "sparkly clean and perty". And i have always had luck feeding once a day in small tanks, a pinch of a good pellet food, supplementing those feedings with a frozen food once a week.

Hey I have the 12 gallon aquapod and I have it stocked with a Balck Occellaris Clown and a Bicolor Blenny. I added the clown first. She is a missbar and has tons of personality. My Bicolor also has lots of personality. I also have a pair of cleaner shrimp.

Sure.

Here are my most recent pics.

I wouldnt put a sand sifting star in a 12 gal.
They get/are kinda big for it and I don't think you'd have enough sand for it to move around much and it prolly would starve.

I had some for a few years in my 150 gal. and I just think they're too big for a small nano. Mine would go all over the 150 and climb on the glass alot. Even in there they only lived about 2 years and I have serpent stars Ive had in there about 10 years now.

And yes that is my opinion lol. The reason I usually say IMO is because you always have someone on here saying your wrong and it's like hey that's my opinion and you have yours.
