Hello,

Im new to this hoby, im from belgium and found this link on the forum..

I just want to have some information.

I want to start an fish only tank and i'm planned to have Dendrochirus biocellatus, Pterois antennata and the Dendrochirus brachypterus.

Is it possible to have these 3 lionfish in a 130gallon (500liter) tank. I'm also planned to put 2 Pholidichthys leucotaenia in the tank.

Could you just give some information about own experiences..

gr thx alot

Main issue is that fu man chu lion does grow slowly and to smaller size... maybe both Anntenata lion and Dwarf lion will end up eating the fu man chu lion ...
Engineer gobies are pretty fast and seems untasty ... if large size ones, should be safe with these lions...

Not sure about the Pholidichthys leucotaenia but the three lions could work, assuming you can get them all to eat. You will probably have to target feed the D. biocellatus for a bit.

It's all about "size differential" here...if a fish is small enuff or an "easily-swallowed" shape (such as the Pholidichthys), there's meal potential even if the length seems OK.

That being said, you'd need to wean each fish in a QT, and the tank will need to be target fed to be sure that each fish gets its fair share of food. It will also help if you get all of your lions small and of fairly equal size so they can "grow up together".

The fu manchu will be the fish that suffers from food competition, so the "gobies" need to leave it alone during feeding time (if they bother it).

Just so you know, the Pholidichthys can reach well over a foot long in captivity, so they do get large. Be sure you skim the tank heavily.
