I posted some pictures earlier of my ideas of the stand and setup, below was the latest of the ideas.

I like how this looks and decided to go with this idea.

First I had to start taking down the walls and door I had put in when I put my original fish room in.

Above is what the room originally looked like.

Now to start the destruction.

After tearing everything down...I get to start on the stand.

Stand Build.....

Stand Build.....

Now after the walls have been taken down and the cabinets removed...it is time to start building the new stand.

After getting stand built, I began on the "canopy", I guess that is what you still call it. It is attached to the ceiling and will come down to the top of the tank.

Next we will be going out to get dry wall. After the dry wall is up and prepped, we are going to put a few coats of primer on all of the bare wood, and some on the dry wall as well. We wanted to coat the wood so it would be less likely to get water damage. We're not sure what we are going to do with the floor yet. We are going to at least paint it, but putting tile down isn't out of the question.

Being a Flooring Contractor, I could probably hook you up with some TILE For Free , I will look in my storage unit in the next coulple of days. How many square feet are you looking at.

Not much, less than 200 sq ft; probably much less than that. I don't remember the measurements right now.

looking good so far medic. i like the idea of the 2 tanks next to eachother. will you connect them in anyway or will they run as 2 seperate systems?

I've thought about connecting them...using a bulkhead, or even cutting the glass in each tank and connecting them with a glass tunnel, but for now they will only be connected via the sump, drains, and returns. So it will be one system with 2 separate tanks; not to mention the connected refugium, and separate tank for growing out copepods or whatever I need it for.

Need some help!!!

Need some help!!!

Most may not know this about me, but I have no clue about color schemes, etc. But, then again, you may know this

I have the dry wall up and am in the mudding process, then some primer will go up/down. I'm seeking out suggestions in reference to colors for the walls in the room. Both above and below the tank, the floor, and other walls. I'm not very artistic, thus the request for help. I do better with the "paint by number" type of directions. :fun2:

Any help/suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Rick, this looks great! I also like the two tanks side-by side. I think not connecting them is a good idea because that way it has the appearance of one tank, but you can keep species who may fight or munch on each other separated. You're making me want another reef system again! I still have all my supplies and even my old rock, I just got rid of the tank and sump. Hmm.

As for colors and design, that's something I love to do. Do you have preference for earthy colors like browns or tans, or do you like cool colors like blues or greens? Do you plan to paint the back of the tank? The color you choose for that may influence what looks best on the walls.

I know someone who could make you a deal on a 180. :)

I don't know that I have any preference in colors; I typically lean more towards the browns and tans...just because that's easy. A friend mentioned pastel colors, yellows and green and such; that scares me, but this is why I'm asking. :) I can paint the tank backs; I probably should have something there so a person isn't looking through the tank into the fish room.

Do the earthtones- if you do blues or yellows you risk looking like a childrens museum. If you do greens- someone will point out "thats hair algae green"- or whatever algae it matches. Tans or khackis with maube a accent wall of chinese red or something deep and classy.

my thoughts exactly.

dry wall is up, mud is dry and sanded, 2 coats of primer are on. Now to determine the colors for the room.

Any update pics,, be nice to see it all shelled in>>>>>>>>>

I'll try to take some more in the morning. I got to pick up the tools and put them away anyway. I was going to take some pictures this evening but I didn't get to it.

Once I get the walls painted, I am probably going to be asking for some help...lifting the tanks up into place. I'm not going to be able to lift for a few weeks after Wednesday...and I don't want to wait until I can lift again to finish working on this project.
