Fish Shipping UPS from LADD??

Earlier today, I ordered a couple of fish and some inverts from LADD for the first time in a while and found out that they have switched shippers from FedEx to UPS. In the past, I had my fish held at the FedEx facility for my pickup (typically around 9:30 am). The LADD representative indicated that the way UPS handles their orders, items delivered by truck normally are available sooner than those held at the facility. I accordingly am having my fish delivered by the truck, but our UPS trucks frequently are showing up late in the afternoon (up to 7 pm) so I am having second thoughts. My order ships Thursday for delivery Friday.

Has anyone had fish shipped by UPS recently and did you have them delivered by the truck or held at the UPS facility for your pickup? How did it work out?

Oddly enough, just had some things shipped last week 2 different days.

Normal UPS will drop items off around 6 PM or later.

However, both orders were dropped off by 930 AM, which was about 2 hours earlier than FedEx would drop off. So, with my limited experiences, UPS is better.

Should note, before I moved (( about 15 miles )) FedEx was great at my old place, the new place, not so much. So, I have a feeling that there are going to be the same amount of people who are happy as are upset.

A lot depends on where the hub location is & how the driver's deliveries are set up for the day. I live less than ten minutes from a UPS hub and I end up getting overnite packages late in the day. So, with UPS I pick up the packages at the hub.

That's not necessarily true in rural areas. I live in a rural area and my overnight packages typically arrive late afternoon both fedex and ups.

according to my UPS center they are guaranteed to be delivered before 10:30am on all overnight packages. And according to the website all overnight next day delivered they are on-time guaranteed by 10:30am and as early as 8 am

I believe I saw in the fine print on LA that the 10:30 delivery time is not guaranteed in rural areas. Blue Zoo as well.

I always have things shipped to me work. The UPS arrived the same time as the fedex used to ~9:30am. No complaints here.

I had a Liveaquaria delivery yesterday via UPS. It arrived before 10:00am. I also am expecting another one today before 10:00am.

I have had several deliveries sent since LA switched to UPS and they all arrived before 10:30AM. I am considered a rural delivery despite a UPS hub that is located within a 30-40 minute drive from my home. With Fed-ex, I usually got my fish shipments from 12-1PM.

I have always received my LA/DD orders by 10:30am no matter where I've lived even different states and the switch to ups hasn't changed a thing.

Good to know it is working so well. I am not in a rural area so I guess the fish will arrive by 10:30 and I can get them out of the shipping water.

Dr, if you happen to know your driver, you can mention to him you're expecting a "live" shipment, most of the time the guys are good & will make a quick stop for you - a $5 or $10 thank you, will also help w/ the next shipment too

I've received three separate shipments from DD since they switched to UPS. All three arrived before 10:30. I was apprehensive about the change, but it appears to be a non-issue.

I just have them delivered on Saturday now. FedEx I would do hold for pickup which I can get at 830 am. Ups hold for pickup is 1pm so that is no good. It kind of sucks because I can only order stuff on Thursday or very early Friday.

UPS doesn't deliver on Sat for me which is an inconvenience. My weekday deliveries have all been good so far.

As others have said I was a little nervous as well when I saw a change in shipping companies. Fed ex for me was between 1-2pm. UPS showed guaranteed delivery by 10:30. My normal UPS does not usually come until late afternoon between 5-6pm. I was a little nervous the first time but sure enough it was delivered at 10am. I also noticed that the truck and driver were different from my normal late afternoon deliveries. I do not live in a rural area either but nonetheless definitely pleased with UPS.

The UPS truck pulled up at 10 and everything was fine. They are all drip acclimated and in their temporary homes for quarantine. The packaging was typical LA/DD - superb. Everything had a minimum of 3-4 heavy duty bags, and the semilarvatus was in 8 bags!

Ok so that explains it we recently moved states and are in a semi rural area that's just being developed so when I ordered from DD and got ups info thought its the move. I was quite nervous too after reading some previous horror stories .... All went well package arrived early :bdaysmile:
