Fish stocking, 125 gallon DT

I finally started construction on the tank today. I got a lot done as well. Anyways the tank will hopefully have water in it within the next two weeks. So I guess it is time to start considering a stocking list for the tank. I really need to set a pretty firm stocking list because I have been known to make impulsive purchases in the past. The tank is a 125 gallon DT with a 55 gallon sump. Aquamaxx EM200. I may upgrade to the 300. Anyways I want this tank to be a mixed reef. I love the fish in the tank. I think a well thought out and balanced fish selection really makes a tank. Some really enjoy the corals and I like corals as well but fish can really make the tank I think. I am not really set on any species. Here is something along the lines of what I want.

Pair of clowns. Probably ocellaris.

A tang or Two. either maybe one of the nice and more aggressive species PBT or purple tang. Or perhaps two and have maybe a yellow tang and a bristletooth species.

Schooling fish. Would love some anthias. Maybe a trio. Recommendations?

Dwarf angel (can't decide on this one. Really do not want to worry about it eating any LPS I will have in the tank)

Gotta have a wrasse of some sort. Recommendations?

Royal Gramma

Blue Jaw trigger. I love these guys had one previously but it jumped out of my tank

probably a goby, blenny, or hawkfish. Recommendations?

And possibly a butterfly if there are any you all would consider reef safe enough.

Basically I am open to anything and just looking for a rough list to start thinking about and tossing around in my head

A 125 is too small for a PBT, been there, done that. Anthias, a male and 3 female square backs would be nice group, I would get 4 females and let them decide who's boss.

For the wrasse, it really just depends on the budget for a fairy wrasse, or functionality with something like a Melanurus.

If you don't want shrimp, a pair of Flame Hawks would do great. Maybe a Midas Blenny.

A Yellow Longnose Butterfly would be my choice for here. Then either a purple or yellow tang at the end to round it out.

Just my .02

I'm undecided on shrimp, I like them but they can be a pain.

What about something like
2 clowns
Yellow tang
Bristle tooth tang
Wrasse
Anthias
Royal gramma
Yellow long nose butterfly or yellow pyramid
Then a goby blenny or hawkfish
About 11 or 12 fish with 3 medium to larger fish. Sounds pretty good

Instead of a Dwarf Angel, a great alternative would be one of the Angels from genicanthus.

I love my Lamarcks angel. They do for the most part get larger than the Dwarf angels, but are much better options for a mixed reef IMO.

I have the same footprint tank assuming it is 72 inches, it is just shorter. I cant make recomendations specifically for you, as everyone will have different needs/wants/ideas, but i can share my current stock list. It is working out well for me so far. I currently have-

- 2 snowflake eels
- 4 blue/green chromis
- Lamarcks Angel
- Thompsons Tang
- One spot fox face
- Tomini Tang
- Yellow watchman goby
- Striated clingfish
- Spotted Manadrin

Thats my current stock list. Will be adding a couple fairy/flasher wrasses as well.

A lot of people would probably consider me overstocked. I do have the luxury of having a 300g stock pond to place any of the fish should they need it.

I have
Pair of ocellaris clownfish
Yellow tang (would love to add a Bristletooth at some point)
Flame angel (I just keep soft corals)
2 clown gobies
Orchid dottyback
Fairy wrasse
Melanarus wrasse
Azure damsel

It's a nice variety of color, shapes, sizes, and behavior and it works for me! Stocking is fun. :)

Any aggression with the Thompson's? I have always heard that genus needs so much room.
