Fish stocking

I currently have 3 chromis ,1 lawnmover blenny and 1 scooter blenny
plus 2 shrimp and one emrald crab.
The people at the LFS said with my setup I could probably get 5 more chromis or 3 and a clown pair
The overall system has about 80 gallons and the aquarium is a 55 G


Also I hurt my hand with bristleworms and some are getting very large
The LFS recommended a arrow crab ,Is that a good idea?

I would max the system out at about 10 small fish, any more than that and you will have difficulty keeping your nitrates down which will further feed your algae problem.
 
I'd get a clownfish pair and non-powdered gloves when your hands in the tank. I read somewhere that arrow crabs can get big and go after corals, inverts, and/or small fish. Never had one, so I'm not exactly sure though.
 
If you have 10 fish in a 55, they need to be and stay very small. We have a 55 & have 3 fish in it. Chromis get a lot larger than people think when they live out their full lives, and they'll also kill each other off anyway. Maybe get the clown pair & see how everything does for several months.

+1 Chromis are not the nice little fish they are often said to be. A group of them will often reduce its number to "1".

I was going to say, maybe he should address the algae problem first? Is it just me or does he need some CUC? Hermits maybe? Have you tested your levels in your tank? Just curious to see your numbers.
 
Before adding more fish I would look into the hair algae problem...but thats just me.

I would max out at about 8 if I were you.

Also as someone else mentioned, 5 chromis + few months time = 1 chromis
 
Yellow coris wrasse, cool fish that will add nice color and activity in the tank as well will tackle your bristle worms. Also unless you really like the chomis, why not get several different types of fish, variety adds to the look of the tank. Thinking like a pair of clowns, a wrasse and maybe a pair of firefish. There is alot of choices, just hate to see you limit yourself with a large group of chromis that may or may not go all Highlander "there can only be ONE".

LOL @ Highlander. That's all I'm ever going to think of with chromis now!
One of our 3 fish is a yellow coris. Haven't seen him eat any bristleworms, but he ate all the pyram snails, which was the point of getting him. Definitely appropriate for a 55 with sand and plenty of rock to swim in and out of & pick from.

I do agree on dealing with the hair algae first.
