I am looking for a salt water store near Naperville with reasonable prices. I am willing to drive to save and get quality fish. Any suggestions?

How far are you willing to stray from Naperville? Are you looking for reef-safe fish, aggressive fish, or corals? If you don't mind going about 1/2 hour west of Naperville, I would suggest Rod's Reef in Dekalb (few fish, mostly corals).

Reef Plus in North Aurora has a good selection of fish (some reef-safe, but mostly aggressive).

Deep Reef in Downers grove seems to get in a good selection of the more exotic fish. A lot of people get their wrasses over there.

It really depends on what you are looking for.

I agree w/hansnfrans assessment

Another little "sleeper" shop I sometime frequent is Reef's Edge in Romeoville - Hwy 53 and 135th

Small coral selection, decent fish and decent prices - They're supposed to be blowing out the wall in the rat room and setting up a 110g for saltwater soon

then there's always Petland......

Deep Reef has a decent selection, but I bought a flame angel from them that developed some kind of pop eye the next day. I treated it every way I could think of but it finally died after two weeks of fighting. I was hoping that they would at least offer a discount on a replacement fish but no such luck so I'm out $60.00 and a fish I've wanted for three years. :(

In order of proximity:

Petland: average to limited selection of fish, high coral prices, not really a "reef" store per se, lacking service.
Petco: limited fish selection, no corals, no real equipment
Pet Fun: atrocious fish selection, horrible corals
Upscale Aquatics/Plainfield: unreal and unreasonable prices, just-ok selection
Reef Plus, North Aurora: good fish selection, he'll order everything you need, average to OK coral selection, reasonable prices
Deep Reef, Downer's Grove: Great and frequently updated fish selection, reasonable to high prices on fish, High prices on corals
Reef's Edge: Never been
Tropicquatics, Lombard: good to great selection on fish (depending on the day), reasonable prices, average coral selection, high prices on corals
Rod's Reef: great selection on corals, great prices on corals, few to no fish, good prices on fish, will order for you, worth the drive all day long.
After this, you're getting closer to distances like Sharky's, Ocean's Floor, etc...

Glen Ellyn Pet shop on Roosevelt Road, west of 355 by about 1 mile, next Trader Joes market. They specialize in Freshwater cichlids but have a decent saltwater collection for an independent shop.

I agree with DragonFish... I'd avoid Deep Reef, everything I've bought from that store had died... Any other store i've had no issues with at all...

These aren't in the Naperville area (all in Schaumburg), but are worth a road trip:

Beyond the Reef - Knowledgable staff, fair prices for a storefront and 50/50 selection on coral and fish, ok on dry goods.
Advanced Aquatics - same, mostly a coral store limited drygoods.
Aquarium Adventure - very good selection of everything and amazing display tanks but they have the highest prices I've ever seen on almost everything too.

If you're looking for corals, I'm suggest driving that extra 30 mins (25 if you speed) to Rod's Reef. I haven't seen his latest setup, but he's always been a source of inspiration and advice for me in the past.
