Fish suggestion!!

Pitcher Hill Reef Society
After giving away some fish and having my clown jump, I have some room to add some new additions. I currently have a yellow tang and pair of lyretail anthias in a 72x18x18 tank. I also have a bluejaw trigger coming next week from the LFS.

I have an open top, and the fish need to be reef safe. Any suggestions? I have considered a splendid dottyback but worried about aggression, and a hippo tang but decided against it due to ich concerns and potential conflict with the yellow tang. I like active swimmers, and a clown pair is my backup plan.

A dwarf angel?

Never again! I had a flame angel that nibbled all my LPS and SPS, and he was impossible to get out until I transferred tanks!

I'd go with a perc or occelaris clown pair, or leopard wrasse. & I'd re-think the trigger...

Why would you rethink the bluejaw trigger? I loved the one I used to have. Also, is the leopard wrasse a jumping risk like the other wrasses?

Triggers are very messy, and in a reef it will be a constant battle to keep clean. When i have mine he would pull snails off the glass till he got fed.
The problem was he wanted to eat 4-5 times a day and a couple cubes of food each feeding for himself. Plus they will start digging looking for food.

I'm aware of the added requirements as far as feeding and nutrient export and am prepared to deal with that aspect. My last bluejaw never exhibitied destructive behavior, though, and was fed only twice a day. Was your trigger a bluejaw as well??

As long as the bluethroat is less than 6", keep him. Great fish. Sure he may knock a rock over or 2, but they are bad azz fish! Just make sure that you dont add anything that will pick on him (ie. PBT). As for the new additions, try a Labouti Fairy Wrasse OR a Lineatis Fairy Wrasse, a Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse, a Mystery Wrasse, and a pair of Randall's Gobys. That would be a nice combo. If you can get a BTA, then definitely grab a pair of Occelaris clowns.
