Fish suggestions

I have a 55 gallon saltwater fish tank and need to know how many more fish I can put in it along with suggestions of what types of fish to get. Just tell me what types of fish and how many because I know it has to do with how big they are.

I have 2 Clarkii clownfish

1 blue hippo tang

And 1 pink and blue spotted goby

I agree get rid of the Hippo tang. They get to well over a foot in length and aggressive. They also grow quickly, min tank size on them IIRC is 180 but could be 220.

If you're looking for suggestions of less aggressive fish, chromis are the way to go. Plus more then one would school in your tank, but only purchase them in odd numbers.

I like flame angels because they stay small and add a nice red/orange color to the tank. Flame hawks are another good option for that coloring, but you can't have any shrimp with them. Anthias are also very pretty but are a little more of a non-beginner fish.

You need to decide what you want your tank to look like. Bright colors? Variety of fish shapes? Groups of similar looking fish? Active swimmers? Fish that get along well with corals? Aggressive fish?

Go to liveaquaria's website and look through the list of marine fish. They include a recommended tank size for each species. It's a good guide.

Take back the tang and then we can talk. They are very cute as babies, but it was a mistake to buy one.

Blennies, gobies, basslets, fairy wrasses, clowns, all ok, sold at or near adult size. The tang, unfortunately, is sold as a tiny baby with growth capacity up to a foot, and they don't thrive in tanks under monster size. I wish stores would tell customers that.
