I decided to feed my hammer and frogspawn today for the first time. and after i spot fed them mysis and walked away from tank for about an hour the tank got a little smelly. Smells like real ocean or a stronger fish smell? lol idk man

has this happened to anyone?

Today is the first time the smell hits me as i just passed by it :S

Thats why i am asking
everything in there looks happy . everything is opened up and fish are swimming normal

Agreed on checkin parameters just in case but I love the smell of "low tide". You will get used to it.

I dont even notice my tank smelling at all. But I decided to feed my gbta some krill and my fiance said for atleast an hour afterwards god what is that smell

The smell of the ocean comes from the salt, algaes, nutrients and other elements in your aquarium, personally I love that smell. You said you noticed it after feeding your fish, it could just be the food.
So overall there really is nothing to be worried about, just to be safe test ammonia as that could be what you are smelling.

I never notice any smell unless my nose is like an 1" away from the water, but maybe all of Florida has that saltwater smell so I might be used to it.

Tested my water yesterday all was 0 and i did a water change friday.

I do notice a bit of pinkish on the sand. Just a bit tho . Should i scoop it out ? may be that cyano

Just checked the tank so i can take pics of the red pinkish I'm seeing and the smell is gone but here are the pics

This one is in the deep part of the sand bed

If I notice some kind of smell after feeding it's usually from foods that make the skimmer bubbles pop. I think the skimmer might aerosolize more stuff in those instances - but it might also be a coincidence...
