My wife and I were fortunate enough to purchase our first home at the beginning of the month. Naturally, we (I) looked for a home that would allow me to have a room dedicated to my aquariums. I have been around the hobby for a while but this will be my first large aquarium. I currently a custom made clownfish breeder setup with 2 holding tanks for clownfish pairs.
In planning the purchase of the new tank, I wanted something large enough to house several tangs and possibly a smaller angel down the road. Taking in to consideration of the space, I settled on a 5' tank.
-----Already-----
Planted Aquariums 150g (60"x24"x24") with center overflow. 4 holes, 2 (1") bulkheads and 2 (3/4") bulkheads. Planning to do a durso drain with an emergency drain. Return from sump will be a Mag 9.
Stand: Custom built by me.
Lighting: ATI 48" (8) Bulb Powermodule suspend from the ceiling.
Skimmer: Bubble Magus Curve 7 (not completely sure I will stay with it. Currently throws out a lot of micro bubbles which is uber annoying.
-----Planning------
Going to baffle a 40 breeder for the sump.
Flow: Considering a couple of the Jebap R-15's.
Calcium Reactor: Geo CR618
Rock: 80lbs from Reef Cleaners
-----Stocking-----
Corals: Mostly SPS with zoas and a few chalices
Fish: Picasso Pair. The rest is undecided. I'd like to have a few tangs with a couple wrasses and anthias. Also intrigued by an angel, particularly the Regal. However, not sure if I'm willing to deal with the care this animal needs.
Please feel free to share advise and criticism. That's the best way to learn.
