Fishes for 24g Aquapod

My tank is still cycling so I have a couple months before I make purchases...I like to go real slow. I'm planning what fish to put in. I've had these before in my 55 that I gave all my livestock to when I moved and I don't have the heart to take them back as he's cared for them for over a year. So this is what I'm thinking. I think 3 fish might be perfect but maybe crowded. The rainfords seem to like hover in one spot, the barnicle is like a guerilla comando that just chills in the rock and strikes when cyclopeze shows itself, and the clown is really the only swimmer. So I'm contemplating maybe one more fish, but I like unique fish so I'm not sure if there is another small enough for a 24g. Possible purple fire fish? It also might be awhile before another true black presents himself at fish store, but I wont settle for less. Any idea's welcome, awesome looks or great personality. 1" sandbed so no sand dwellers, too small for a wrasse or blue spotted goby.

1 true black percula
1 barnicle blenny
1 rainford goby

So far in the tank there is 1 cleaner shrimp, 5 snails, and 2 hermits. I've never had hermits before, always did snails so I don't really know what type of interaction they will be to fish. They're not the blue legged ones. Looks like black and white striped legs, lefties maybe?

Never had a rainford goby before but I always heard they are picky eaters. They don't really eat prepared foods, prefer to eat algae and stuff of the rocks. Not sure if you have had one before but it may be worth doing some more research.

Purple Firefish would be a great addition and as long as the blenny and perc don't harrass it it would be great.

Starry Blenny. I regret getting rid of mine. I sold him so I could get the tailspot I always wanted. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Wow he does look pretty cool. Have you kept him with other blennys? I really liked my barnicle blenny and want another.

Yes sir I have had the rainford before for over a year, he was always eating sand and sifting it through his gills. He also did eat cyclopeeze. I havn't had one fish that didn't eat the stuff. I used the squirt bottle that I kept in the freezer. It's been awhile so I don't remember all the brand names and what not yet. I took a shot glass with water from teh tank and would shoot in some cyclopeeze and the bioplankton, stir it up and gave the tank a neck back. He's still alive in my friends tank.

If you have live rock, i would, with out question, go with a mandarin goby... Despite popular belief, they are not hard to care for and the are awesome looking!!!

I have a purple firefish, but in my 70g. All he does is hide--wish I could catch him and transfer to nano.
You could add some yellow with clown goby or yellow watchman goby. They add some different color to a nano.

Caribbean dwarf wrasse!!

Where did you purchase that lil guy? I can't find any information really, even on wetwebmedia.com My past experiance was that wrasses like to sleep under the sand, and I don't really have a sand bed for them.

he died because of to much strees the gramma dont leave him eat but I will try to find another one... I believe this species do not sleep in the sand bed.

I have a canary blenny and a coral beauty in my 24 AP. They do really well together. The canary blenny is really awesome. They are venomous but not agressive.

Most wrasses require larger tanks, minimum 50g and a sandbed to hang out in, same with a coral beauty as for tank size. Mine looked like it needed more swimming room in my 55. Jawfish require a DSB to burrow in as well and mine is less than an inch. I think I'm pretty maxed out at 3 for a nano it seems as it's traditionally not a good idea to have more than one type of fish in such close quarters, and I've already labled a blenny and goby on my wish list. Although I think I might switch for the starry blenny instead of the barnicle.

I know in my AP 24 I think I am going with some banghai cardinals possible, and some smaller gobies, Clown and some neons. I would get smaller sized fish, so they can still grow without getting to big for tank to soon. Jon

Hehe I know. Maybe if I bought pods every few weeks but it's not even worth it to me. I never put one in my 55 because I wasn't sure about the amount of pods I would have with out a refugium. I have started noticing pods on my glass now though, so I'm happy my tank is coming to life.

Theres a black and white camo dragonette I saw at the fish store the other day. The name escapes me as I've been out of the hobby for over a year but I kind of liked him more than the mandarians.
