Fishpros

There was a transaction where I felt wronged and that my patronage over many years (and being club president at the time) didn't mean anything. I refuse to shop at a store which treated its long time money spending customer so shabbily.

Personally I go to LFS for normal simple things like food and whatnot as well as fish sometimes. I used to get coral from Jofish when they were around, but now I look to other hobbyists I trust to get corals from. I much prefer an atmosphere of trading over buying and selling.

I have no problem with them canceling the discount. They have to make a profit/break even to stay in business. Add to that is the difficulty of actually identifying real WRC members (no membership card, secret handshake or magic decoder ring! :) ) Of course wearing an official WCR tee-shirt would help. (shameless plug - the shirts will be available at the meet this Saturday!)

We'll have to do some work and see if we can get the discount back.

The lack of quality lfs is what ultimately led me to tear my tank down and take a break from the hobby. I'll never shop at chasers as long as the current manager is employed there and the quality of livestock at fish pros has never been up to par imo. I do a walk through about once or twice a month and it sure seems like they are trying though.

Who is the manager that everyone is talking about at Caesar's? Went by yesterday just to check out if they had anything interesting and if they sold RO/DI water, no on the water but they did have a lot of zoas and some anemone but too overpriced for size in my opinion. My daughter did witness something that made me laugh, she's nine, one of the workers was feeding the fish and she asked me what is that. An angler, I respond. What do they eat, she asks. I reply fish and even fish the same size as them. Why isn't he eating that fish, she asks. I start thinking who in their right mind puts any fish with an angler in a pet store. So I reply back what fish? She says that one. Just as I bend down to see better, I catch a glimpse of a guppy in the tank and just as I'm going to explain to her it's his food, bam! Dinner is served, bye bye guppy. She is speechless and says, of my God that was so violent! I start laughing and explain it's the circle of life and that's what happens in nature all the time. Then I remind her she watches shark week and thinks nothing of it. She replies I can handle that, but the angler was so violent. I just shake my head at the innocence and perplex mind of a nine year old. So I bought a zoa rock that had some nice green and orange coloring for $11.

Off to Fish Pros for water we went, they have since moved all there corals to the coral room since last we went there which was 2 weeks ago when I bought water and a Coral Beauty. Between the 2 shops I believe you can get a diverse selection of corals now. Just have to hunt and be lucky for anything super special but it's always been like that.

Just lurking. I won't have a tank for a while though. I want to do something 150+ gallons this time, and fairly automated. Possibly even hire someone from the club to help out with setup and upkeep.

Stopped in at Caesars the other day just to look around. Haven't been in there for about a year cause I haven't had a tank. Considering that most of the employees there agree the manager has a bad attitude and when I have seen them outside of there, they never had flattering things to say about him so I figured I would just bite my tongue and check the place out again and make it a point not to deal with him.

Anyways I got the distinct impression they read this thread or at least were informed of it, and I am pretty certain they know who I am from the brief interactions I had. unfortunately I was a little let down as the inventory was pretty low, and the main display seems to have been ignored recently, which was a major draw for me to go in and drool over.

Does anyone have a go to person at Caesar's?

When I've gone in there a dude named Ceasar (not THE Ceasar though) seemed to be the one who does the ordering and is the most informed. I don't see him around that often when I go in though. I haven't bought anything other than starfish for my Harlequins and maybe some Phytofeast. Their coral prices just can't compare with what I can get from hobbyists, same with selection.

I have always dealt with Marcus. Haven't been to the store in a year or so since I sold my tank but he was always easy going and knowledgable. I always hoped fish pros could pull it together as they had the space and lots of stock but never seemed to get firing on all cylinders
