Fittings to increase water flow..

What are the name of (or where do I find) the fittings you can attach on the end of power heads or PVC to enhance the flow by doubling their output. I believe the PSU tank has them and I KNOW the TFP reef tank has them.

They look a little like jet engines and they are open in the back to pull tank water into the stream created by the power head.

..I know somebody knows what I'm talking about. :)

..I also got a PM from Dave at TFP....Thanks to both of you.

I have to say..I'm surprised at the price. I doubt they cost more than a dollar to produce..but I guess they can charge what they think people are willing to spend! :) Gotta love capitalism.

I am not fully convinced that they increase flow 5 times, as claimed. For one the pressure required to force through a small nozzles cuts of the flow rate from the pump due to the back pressure it creates. THe increase in velocity, required to create the entrained flow can be harmful to your corals in a small system. Even in a tank like the PSU tank, it blows the tissue off the coral if we do not point it away from corals.

sanjay.

or you could make your own poor man's version out of pvc. it may not be as efficient as the well engineered ones on the market.

I bought an 8ft x 2ft x 2ft acrylic tank for when I move (to build into a wall) and it only has one overflow on one side (on the actual side of the tank). I was thinking about putting 2 or 3 of these on the other side blowing across the top of the tank to ripple the water and get the same circular flow I have in my tank now. If you put food in my tank it actually loops around the front glass until the sea swirl interrupts it.

These would be blowing from the right into the overflow on the left...7 1/2 feet away!

I'm just kicking it around right now..I'm curious about any feedback on these things.
