Fix-it stick, or plumber's putty?

Alright since HD no longer has aquamend, I found 2 other products; fix-it stick, which is also a kneed it yourself putty in a stick form like aquamend, and plumber's putty, which is a putty that comes in a container and looks pre mixed

so I'm trying to putty my LR together to aquascape and was wondering which of the two is better to use. Are they reef safe? (cost is not an issue)

thanks alot

Do not use the standard soft plumbers putty. It an oil based putty that never hardens. Look for something like "Harvey's Plumbers Epoxy Putty" its safe to use, even says its for fish tank right on the label. I get mine at Menards.

Thanks on advice with the plumber's putty, but unfortunately, I don't have a menards anywhere nearby, just HD and I'm pretty sure the fix-it stick is an epoxy putty also

My HD replaced the aquamend with a JB weld equivalent and seems to be identical, used some this weekend with no problems yet....
