flame angel and coral beauty in reef

I have a 90 gallon tank that I am looking at stocking and was wandering if a flame angel and coral beauty would work if put in at the same time. All LPS corals torch, frogspawn, mushroom, acans, zoas. Thanks.

Sorry, new to the coral scene :)

Lps are hard corals with large polyps, so they have a hard central skeleton. Lol just so you know. I'd say you have a better change with a coral beauty then a flame angle but then again both should be fine if you feed them well enough. I wouldn't recommend it if you can't loose a little coral to picking though lol just in case

Flame and CB in a 90g might be a problem... A lot of hiding places/caves could help, but there might be some 'territorial disputes'

I had them both in a 92 corner before w a potters too, w out any issues, just make sure to add them together & roughly the same size. If not, in my experience, the bigger one would relentlessly chase the smaller one. And I think 3 angels of similar sizes are better than two, to divert constant harassment.

That being said, I didn't have issues w them picking on corals either. Although, w other dwarf angels I've owned; lobos, acans, open brains & other fleshy LPS were too much to resist, so careful w your acans. They usually cost more than most dwarf angels.

We had both for a few months in a 110.
They seemed to get along fine.
Unfortunately, the flame died overnight a while back, but it wasn't due to aggression

Id be worried about the corals

My pygmy angel picks at anything and everything, its like he tests stuff out

Its a diff species than both you mentioned but maybe itll help

I have no corals and id be scared to throw a coral in my tank

But others have had success

I have a Flame angel pair in my 65 gal reef and my 320 gal reef. No problem. The two in my 65 gal is new 3 months or so. The two in my 320 are at least 1 year and they spawned every few night.
No significant problem with either pair. Very nice bright active and interesting fish for my tank. I do feed on the heavier side in compare to most other reefers.

Pygmys are def different from Flames and Coral Beautys in that they def pick. Ive had them too... devilfish!!! You can have good luck w particularly those 2 Angels.

I've done some extensive forum surfing on this subject. It seems that some people get lucky and their dwarf angels never go after corals. Some people get "lucky" for 6 months to a year, and then their dwarf angels suddenly develop a taste for certain corals.

It seems like the most common coral they go after are zoas and acans.

Personally, I decided not to risk it in my tank. As much as I love the look of flame angels and coral beautys, I really wanted a zoa garden and some cool acans.

Yeah it's a crap shoot frankly. You can get lucky and have a dwarf angel never bother things, or it can be a terror. I'm dealing with a Flame now who was a model citizen for a year and then decided that clam mantles were on the menu. Be prepared to have an 'exit' strategy.

I mainly keep SPS and clams (and anemones). They never bother my. Corals or clams but I am worry that they will be carpet food
