Flame Angel and Cupramine?

I am planning on getting a flame angel and want to treat it with Cupramine copper in QT tank. What would be a safe level for the angel and eradicate any parasite (ick)? I have heard that the flame angel are sensitive to copper.

Like all angels, some Flames handle copper better than others. It's an individual thing.

If you go the copper route, use Cupramine and crank it up slowly. Don't follow the directions on the bottle. Add a little at a time; take a week to get it up to 0.35. Observe the Flame closely. If he stops eating for more than a few days or in general, starts looking bad - start doing WCs to lower the copper level.

If you want to go the safe route, just do tank transfer on him. This sticky describes how.

+1 most angels can handle copper but some will much better then others. I treated my juv emperor with cupramine and she stopped eating and developed lympho. So I did a massive water change in the QT and stopped treatment. Now 4 weeks later she is eating everything again and the lympho is 99% gone

I will be adding the copper slowly. I also have treated a swallowtail angel and coral beauty in the past with Mardel CopperSafe with no problems. But I want to use Cupramine this time around on a flame angel.

Just out of curiosity, do you think I can use the Mardel CopperSafe instead of Cupramine since I have it on hand? I have the API copper test kit for the CopperSafe.

Just get the Cupramine + Seachem copper test kit.You got time. First make sure the flame is eating, and let it settle down in the Q tank..

If you use coppersafe 2ppm Cu is ideal, I have two flames and a multibar in coppersafe now. Normally I use Cupramine or straight copper but I wanted to experiment.

I will probably use the copper safe as I have a brand new bottle of it and have use this product since 1978 with no problems. I thought maybe using the Cupramine because of all the write up on it on RC and flame angel. If I see any problems with CopperSafe then I will switch to Cupramine. Mrscribbled keep me posted on your result. Thanks
