flame angel dying - please help

i hear you. i had a coral beauty die after i went away for a weekend recently and came back to a tank without electricity for probably a day and a half.

i lost a lot of specimens. it hurts.

we'll remember it as the great power outage of '08. (damn salt in the power cords!!!!)

Hey all,

I got a six-line wrasse to replace the flame angel. I thought I had better check!

He has a little ick it looks like, and he's in QT. If I'm careful, can I use copper with a six-line wrasse? :-) I don't want to make the same mistake twice.

If it makes you feel any better, my flame died yesterday, I had it in hypo for ich, I guess It couldn't handle the stress load, my other fish in hypo are fine.

good luck!

Bummer! Sorry to hear that.

I tried hypo once and lost everything. I used a refractometer and was really slow in my changes - but they just stressed and died.

With all due respect, no you can't. MAC in my (and many other) eyes is little more than a scam with a lot of promises and good ideas and little to show for it. There's a good reason why there are only a handful of importers/distributors and retailers that are MAC certified. There is so much corruption within the industry in the Philippines, the industry in general, and the MAC that I won't even begin to go into detail. However, if you're curious as to what I'm speaking of there is a lot of information out there for you to read and form your own opinions.

Peter if you are so bitter about the industry, then why are you a part of it? Why are you not on a crusade to stop/change it? Yes there is problems in the Philippines but its not limited to there and there are many honest and ethical divers working there as well. As far as the industry is concerned, what part of this world is free of corruption? When you find something let me know!!
Many retailers/distributors are not MAC certified because it is pretty rigorous, I've looked into it. There are ALOT of procedures
and on top of that, even if a fish is MAC certified all the way up the ladder if I order lets say 3 of something and one dies it is no longer MAC certified. Yes could the MAC be better, but again what in life couldn't? Look at the police force, they are paid by our taxes and alot slips through the cracks and you are ragging on a NONPROFIT organization that has to watch mostly the third world and at that in remote areas.

And by the way, you would be surprised by the common mark up on fish, thats why I sell my flames for under $60!!
