Flame Angel Eye Injury

Not experienced with the bubble to the eye.

However my angel gets a pop-eye when it scratches it. I keep the water quality good and it goes away in a few weeks.

The fins on the bottom of the fish look frayed. So either it got beat up pretty good or you have an infection. What is the water quality? How long has the tank been up (assuming QT tank)?

Qt has been setup two weeks max. There is a handful of pond matrix in there with him from my sump. I have done one 50 % water change since he went in.

I found this link matches what I have found in my hobby experience:

You mentioned a tang in the video. I would definitely separate the fish.

For what I see so far. I have found that if the fish is eating, it will normally pull through (as long as the water quality is good). Once the fish stops eating, it is normally game over.

Put some Ocean nutrition seaweed with garlic in there.

In the mean time, check the ammonia, nitrite. Keep an eye on the fins. If the fins get worse than you have an infection.

Yes he was already pulled from the dt and is now alone in qt. I will do some more water changes in the qt. He gets seaweed extreme pellets, occasionally live black worms and frozen brine. Seems to eat and swim well, but is real skittish when I go near the tank since catching him and pulling him from the DT.

Any medications I should have on hand, just in case?

I will focus on water quality in the qt.

I will let someone better answer that one, who has used it.

I have seen post of people using 3 treatments (kanaplex+metroplex+furan-2). Not sure how it is used. I have used Furan 2 with mixed results.

I am a big fan of garlic seaweed, however some are not. My best results is avoiding medicine (if possible) and build the fish's immune system and keep it eating. The fish will try to fight it off.

I have not had the best results with many medicine products aside from copper (however copper will not help you here).

Had that happen to my emperor a while back. Its probably due to an injury maybe from bumping into a rock or something in the tank. The bubble (looks like a clear skin) should eventually fall off and then the eye should be good. Just keep the water parameters in check.

Erythromycin is a good antibiotic for eyes. How long have you had the fish? If you had him a while it's probably an injury some time fish get a gas bubble in the eye I'm not sure the cause of it but I believe it corrects itself. Erythromycin will kill your beneficial bacteria so have prime on hand in case of ammonia. For know I would dose epsome salt 1 tbls per 5 gal of water this will help with swelling if the eye clouds up or looks infected start the erythromycin. Disolve the epsome salt in some tank water then add it slowly in a high flow area you can repeat this in 48 hrs of needed

Where can erythromycin be sourced? Swelling is down but the eye still looks like crap. Or a different readily available med.

Api brand has erythromycin should be able to get it online or through lfs
Also erythromycin is hard on the biological filter so make sure to have prime and fresh salt water on hand and watch the ammonia
