flame angel fish

hey can someone give me some tips on caring for my flame angel fish. I have a 55 gallon tank. 4 months old. about 50 pounds of live rock. aregninte sand. no sump. it is the only fish in the tank. I finally got one that lived so I want to know what are some behaviors and characteristics to look out for.

great fish..swimmers, curious, excellent personalities, tough and bold...pe mysis, nori, small pieces of fresh clam/shrimp...consider getting a qt....good luck...

Mine eats everything I feed; Spectrum pellets, Nori and Hikari enriched brine shrimp. I've been fortunate because in the three or four years I've had her, she has never pecked at corals. She was the boss of the tank until I got a Tomini Tang. They get along fine, but he didn't back off when she tried to bully him, so the pecking order got shifted around a bit.

Agree looking into a quarantine would be a good idea. Iv'e been wanting to try a flame but don't want to risk any of my corals. I'm pretty sure a flame would find my large durasa clam irresistible...

The first one I had for ten years and if it wasn't for a stupid mistake of taking a fish out of my QT tank too soon and placing it in my display I would still have it. It was reef safe along with my two new ones. (I guess I got lucky)

my flame picked on rocks the fist 2-3 weeks. after that, it ate everything I threw in. doesn't pick on any corals and very peaceful except to other dwarf angels.

hmmmm... this thread is making me want to try one. Anyone have experience with them and clams? It would either be this or the potters, is the potters much more of a risk than a flame or are they about the same roll of the dice.

I have a pair of flames with multiple clams, sps, LPS and softies...no problems (so far)...IMO, Potters could be more of a problem as well as being a hard to keep fish.
