Flame Angel in 24g

I've seen them kept in 30g's with good results (I myself being one of these stories) But I believe the recommended size is 45+ gals?

You could probably get away w/ it, but I wouldn't recommend it. Most places recommend a minimum tank size of 30g. I keep one in my 46g, very happy.

My LFS said it depends on the coral, they leave LPS alone but would go after softies. Not sure about SPS since I don't keep any SPS.

I think your LFS is backwards.

They "can" pick on LPS, SPS and clams. Just got rid of mine for clams. Another club member got rid of their's for SPS reasons.

It also depends on the fish itself, there could be a speices that is said to always eat ____, but every particular fish does its own thing... sadly it can also be the other way too.

A flame in a 24 gallon..... I say no. Too small. I would atleast try a 40 gallon, 30 is stilll pushing it IMO.

As long as its small, I say no problem. I actually keep a small yellow tang in my 18 gallon. Once it gets too big, time to trade him in for a smaller one.

Even though all angels have a chance of picking at corals, I think the flame has a higher chance than the coral beauty, in my new 40gal Im going to try either a coral beauty or a cheurb, im not sure yet.
Good luck angels are beautiful!

Sorry, but 24g is not apprpriate long term for a flame angel. It would be fine for a juvenile flame for a while, though. Par tof the problem is sometimes a fish has to be very very stressed before we as hobbyists can recognize it. Wish they could make facial expressions :D
