I had a pair of flames in an 80 gallon tank. I had a larger, mature male first and then got a very small immature specimen. I used an acclimation box to introduce the smaller one just in case, but the male was a perfect gentleman and they got on great from the start. I've also heard of people getting two small ones and letting them sort it out like clownfish.

In my 300 my female/juvenile used my many birdsnest to evade my large male until after a couple months they paired up. She thought everything was a game, my male would be eating and she would come flying out of the birdsnest grab and run. He would chase but had no chance because he could not fly through the birdsnest like she could.
