Flame Angle not eating. What to do?

I recently purchased a Flame Angle. He picks off the rocks but will not accept any prepared food. I even bought some frozen food specifically for Dwarf Angles. He hasn't touched my corals or polyps but seems content at picking off the rocks. It doesn’t even seem like he’s eating anything because he’s not pulling things off the rocks like my tang does. He's been in the tank for one day, about 24 hours.

Is this normal? What should I do??

Give it time alot of fish won't eat the first day or more.

If it's picking on the rocks thats a good sign.
A good idea when buying any fish from the LFS is to ask them to feed it to see if it's eating there.

I had a kole tang once did'nt eat prepared foods for about a month but did eat algae and came around to eat prepared and lived for years.
Also just got a 6 line that did'nt eat flakes till about a week later but it ate pods right away.

Just keep trying the foods a little at a time and hopefully it will come around.

give it time-

He may be stressed, lots of flames are wild caught so they freak out for a while in a aquarium.

give him a few days then try live brine. If he won't take that you may have a problem

give him a few days, then start to worry, if he is picking at the rock he is probably getting some food off them

I have the same problem with my Coral Beauty, I have had him for two weeks and have not seen him eating, I feed frozen mysis, brine shrimp, tried flakes, pellets formula one, but he eats off the rocks and still looks as fat as he was when I got him, but I would like to see him eat he is worrying me that I will find him flat floating one day, also I feed nori on clip that he also ignores, he seems to hide when I put food in when the others come out.

My Coral Beauty wouldn't eat dry food for weeks when I first got him. He'd always eat frozen brine though...

Just a note my Flame Angel (died) and my Coral Beauty wouldn't / won't eat nori.. Anything soaked in garlic they avoid(ed) like the plague. Not to say yours won't eat differently but don't assume because its soaked in garlic they'll eat. Try different things. I wouldn't be too concerned at this point.

Alot of fish won't eat because they don't recognize prepared foods as food or are scared at first of their new tank.
Sometimes there can be a bully scaring them also.

In all my years of keeping salt fish I can't remember ever losing one because it would'nt eat. Not that it can't happen.
They usually come around as long as tank pars are good.

Picking on the rocks is a good sign as they are hungry so prolly not sick.
Usually once they figure out what food is they become pigs and beg for it lol.

Well I tried some live brine. He nibbled on a few then went back to the rocks. He keeps going up to my coral banded shrimp as if he has ick. I notice a small spec on his fin. Can I add a cleaner shrimp having a coral banded shrimp? I have a 75 gallon tank. Any other ideas for food. I also tried some dried algae. He hasn’t touched it.

At first my Coral Beauty just picked at the rocks and then after a a few more days, a little nip of Nori. By about the 7th day he was eating like a pig
