flame has ich but dont no y

hey guys i have a litttle story and question. the week before thanks givving i go to my lfs to get some food, water, coral, and i c this beautiful flame angel fish that i saw there the previous week. i asked the people to please feed it so i could make sure it would eat and sure enough it did. i come home aclimate it ect.. lights left of for about 3hrs. everything is going good im givving it nori soaked in its food with garlic and feeding him with the other fish which are 3 yellow tail damsels and 3 domino damsels 3 times a day. the flame always has a strip of nori avaiable and eats it. well today i noticed he has some white speckes on him primarialy on the very ends of his fins . right when i saw that i crushed up some garlc and feed him. he eats like a pig nd is fat and happy, never gets dominated by the damsels. params are literally perfect. idk what to do besides hope he passes and get over it because to me there is no sence in qting him if hes eating like a pig. does anyone know of any other supplements i could be givving him to ensure his general health and help fight off the ick? thxs guys (btw i have another flame in my dads tank so i did not just impulsively buy this fish)

First, garlic is not the cure for all answers. Garlic is a mer stimulate used to get fish to eat and builds up their immune system. Garlic is commonly used to "treat" ich, but when it comes down to it, garlic will not get rid of the ich present in the tank. To start off, I would recommend reading this article that Steven Pro wrote awhile ago which has tons of helpful information:

Next off... I would highly recommend setting up a QT since you did state you have a tank as well as your dad. You can never go wrong with always having a ready QT tank running. This way, any new fish you may buy can go straight into the QT tank, where you can begin the hyposalinity process. Rather than typing up and explaining possible ways to treat the introduction of ich into your tank, read these instead to save me some time: Once again... articles from the online Reefkeeping Magazine that were wrote by Steven Pro:

Re: flame has ich but dont no y

He has ich because it either came with it from the LFS or it was already in the tank to begin with and got there from not QTing fish, live rock, inverts, corals, etc...

You can have perfect water parameters and no "stress" in the tank and ich can still rear its ugly self. QT is the only sure way to get rid of it permanently.

grrs lol it did probably get it from the lfs because i ran fishless for about 5mths then added 3 yellow tail then three domino damsels. let them get used to the tank for about another 2mths and got the flame. ur right time to qt.

Be sure to set up the QT tank properly and do some reading before you rush setting one up or you'll just be wasting your time in the long run.
