Flame Hawkfish

If you care about your corals than fish then stay away from angelfish. I have a bunch of them in my tank and I know how much they love my corals :p

I had a Flame Hawk for quite awhile and it had the coolest personality. It did not bother any of my corals except it would perch on anything that would support its weight. That didnt seem to bother the corals though.
I cant wait til I can find another one. I see them from time to time but the ones I see have not been as vibrant red with really dark circles around the eyes as the one I had.

I don't have a reef tank, so I can't comment on the reef-safe part...but I have a flame hawkfish. He is by far my favorite fish in the tank. He has such a wonderful personality, and it's hilarious to see him just popping in and out of things and looking at you. I can't imagine my tank without him.

+! great fish; I have a pair and love them. Shrimp are dinner, though. They're considered reef-safe; except with small inverts.

Exactly. Other than the shrimp predation issue, they are fabulous. Very personable, very curious about the "outside world" and wonderful coloration. If you do not have shrimp, they are highly recommended. Longnose Hawkfish, same issue, same recommendation.

Did you acquire yours as a pair, or did you subsequently pair them up? I have one...very young...been in my DT for almost 2 weeks now after 6 weeks QT. I'd love to have another, but I'm not sure how to go about it, or whether the time has passed since I didn't buy a "mated pair" in the first instance. Any thoughts (from MrT or others)?

P.S.: Sorry Walvis...not meaning to hijack your thread!

I bought mine as a pair, I can't really tell them apart. I'd start a new thread or just Google, there has to be info somewhere.

Mine is great in the reef. It leaves my larger shrimp alone so far, but I never buy small shrimp anymore because those seem to disappear. I wonder why.
