Flame & Lubbocks Wrasse Issues

Hi all,

I just added a new Lubbocks Wrasse to my 220 today and my female flame wrasse will not stop harassing the Lubbocks. I also have a McCoskers but he seems fine with the Lubbocks.

The McCoskers was the first addition months ago. The Flame was added maybe 1-1/2 months ago. Anything I can do to deal with the harassment? I would like to add more fairy/flasher wrasses in the future.....

Will I face similar issues with the flame in the future? The Lubbocks is actually the larger of the two.

Thanks.

alot female fairys are known to be more aggressive than thier male counterparts..socially acclimating new ones to the tank helps alot in aggression..being that the two you have in question are different in shape and size i would not have thought that you would have that much aggression..i would give it a few days and see if it dies down..when adding a new one like you want to do i would suggest in getting a specimen cup..you can find them at petco or any store like that....i bought a small critter cage and drilled some holes in it and i use it insted of the smaller cup but i know of alot that use this and it works well.. using a cup or what i used helps the fish in the dt to get use to the newcomer and it has helped me keep alot of fairys and flashers together that i thought would never work

Thanks wrasseguy! I will give this a try and use this method in the future for new fairy/flasher additions. I have grown particularly fond of these wrasses and would like to base my tank around them.

How long have you kept the new addition in the critter cage before releasing them? a couple of days? A week?

Thanks!

i hold them in there until i see that the can hold thier own..sometimes it is one or two days some time longer..i keep the specimen cup up at the top of the tank to make it easy to feed them..if ise the fish just laying there i won't let it out..if isee it flashing or displaying to the ones in the tank or trying to get to food outside the cup..i will let it out that night i allways let it out when the light are out
