Flame Rose Bubble Tip Anemone?

Yeah I know...I have seen these BTA's. They are nice, but they look like an flourecent orange anemone that comes out of Bali I have seen around. At one time they were $1200..they must have come down in price.

I think my anemone is actually a little bleached based on the bright pink of the middle tentacles and the almost white color of the oral disk under the tentacles. I think when it colors up, it will look the dark roses that you see sometimes with the copper colored tips.
If it is like the orange ones that came from Bali, then the price came down A LOT ! :)

*makes note, never send phender to id!*:D It looks awesome that's for sure.

It does look really great. I'm fighting back the jealousy, but doing a lousy job.

Looking forward to some more pics when its fully settled in ...

Ouch! all good zingers have an element of truth. In my defense:
I didn't really think it would still be there a day and a half after he told everyone where it was, but the store was sort of on our way to Reefer Madness. The choice was difficult and I felt kind of bad about buying it, until the guys asked me how I found their store. When I told them, they both got big smiles on their faces and talked about how they appreciate their customers that say good things online. When we got to the car, my wife told me the same thing that I was thinking, which was:
We could be wrong, but it seemed to both of us that tdtiger's post accomplished one of its two goals. (I know I've done the same thing for some LFS's around me)
1) To get some crazy anemone person down to the store to buy this anemone before it dies.
2) To find out exactly how much a crazy anemone person would be willing to pay for an unusual anemone like this. Thank goodness the picture was bad and nobody said that a LFS in Colorado sells splits for $500 or that orange ones from Bali were going for $1200!

My thought as well.

Good luck with it, Phil.

If you guys are getting sick of the pics let me know.
Here are some under actinics. The colors I see with all the lights on is somewhere between what the camera sees with all the lights on and only the actinics.

I thought this thread had died out. Havnt checked it after so many views and no replies. So you were the one that bought it. I came back that evening after work and the guys told me some guy came in and bought it.

Like I said, the phone camera did NO Justice to it's colors and how beautiful it was. It's a hole in the wall kinda place didnt know you guys would go searching for it hehe. It's local to me and I go here all the time but never seen anything like it. I thought it was colored and wasnt true until I got a reply from an anemone enthusiast.

Phender, let me know if it does split. It's a great size for it. That skunk clown looks like it likes it's new home.

 I totally agree with #1 BTW.

I actually havnt been there for a few weeks and dont know how long if they've had it for a while or not. I tried looking up variations of anemones with this type of shade/coloring and couldnt find anything on it. So where else would I go but to this forum and ask about it.

I've heard and read about false anemone colors and with an anemone as vibrant and unusual as this I personally didnt believe this was true in color until I recieved information on how to tell if it was true or not.

Phender I'm not sick of pictures yet at all. :D Please do keep posting them. How is it doing? Is it eating for you yet? I heard back from one retailer that they can get them but they ship very poorly so they don't order them. :( I would love to get one and start propagating them so that they won't be yanked out of the wild only to die in transit.

It hasn't changed much. It is not extreemly sticky, but pulls the food deep into its tentacles very quickly. I am feeding it small pieces of silverside everyday along with what ever food it catches that was meant for the fish. I will cut back on the feeding once it gets more of its zooxanthellae back.

It fills the rock spaces during the day (which I like). At night under the moonlights, it expands into a big circle with more defined bubble tips. I'll see if I can get a pic tonight.

FWIW: it is in one of a tandem of 20 gal tanks plumbed together, that have been up for 10 years. It has been a very good home for BTAs in the past. I just sold the last one (had it and two others for over 5 years) to make room for the new one.
Each tank is lit by 2-65watt PC bulbs. I just switch to Dual Daylights and Dual Actinics from regular 10ks and actinics. They are more expensive, but my eyes and my animals seem to like the change.

Wow...I can only hope that I'll stumble across something as gorgeous as that, if only just to see it.

Now you've gone and ruined things for me. I've been waiting 6 months for my newest tank to mature and I wanted a rbta. I'm getting ready to start making things comfy for one and you had to go and post pictures of this one ;) How am I supposed to find anything to compare with that one?

Seriously, it's a beautiful anemone, and the pictures look great, please keep posting as it changes.

Good luck!

As promised, here is a pic taken after lights out when the anemone extends a little more. I turned the lights back on to get the picture.

No it is not a magnifica.
BTAs are supposed to have thick tentacles. There is quite a bit of flow in the tank. I took the picture when the powerhead was off.
I don't think a mag would ever bubble up this much, nor would it wedge its foot deep in the rock work.

Thanks for the pics of the mags
