flame scallop

I have an electric flame scallop that has been in my 40gal now for 3 months. What would cause the tenacles to turn from red to a white color? I have fed a cap of Marine Snow and a cap of phyto each day. Nitrate level is between 10 and 20. He does not jump around alot anymore either. Everyone says that they eat alot and I think that I have givin plenty of food. What can I do about this?

Marine snow holds almost no nutritional value at all. Tests showed it's almost all water. Are you feeding him live phyto?

I'm feeding him phyto that a local reefer makes. The bottle stays in the frig. I have been using this phyto for about a month now.

scallops love detritus so if you can give hime some and it will love you for it.

I can't find the link, but do a search for Rob Toonen's article about flame scallops. I'll warn you now - you won't like what it says about their survival rates (or very short natural life span either)...
