Flame Scallop

Anyone know anything about these things. i bought one without really knowing that much about them because it was 5 bucks and looked cool.
How should I feed it??

It feeds on phytoplankton and other tiny organisms. It's very difficult to keep in a captive environment and rarely lives long.

I think they're great I've rarely fed mine and he's been going strong for 7+months now.

Oh yeah they like indirect water flow. But they need good circulation in the tank in general for food distribution.

Most of them die within 12-18 months in captivity, regardless of what you do. The biggest trouble is the size of particles they eat, which is tiny. Generally the wider they open, the more trouble they're in.

You really should research before you buy. That's like someone buying a Dendronepthya because they're only $50 and look nice. Flame Scallops, which aren't even related to Scallops, they're File Clams, require a vast amount of planktonic food that is very small. Even if you do offer them this, they might not accept it. Try the 5-50 Micron Golden Pearls by Brine Shrimp Direct. In the future, do your Homework. Good Luck.
