i jsut ordered a flame scallop online today. i bought it because i needed it to get the free shipping. i have heard they are easy and hard. anybody have any advice on them?

Everything I have read suggests that we cannot sustain them long term in the aquarium. They require food far too small and plentiful for even supplementation.

i kept one for about a year. I never fed anything special to it. They like to be in caves and crevises. Let it do its thing. I stressed mine out when i stared because i wanted it to sit on the sand bed like my clams. I have since learned to just let it be. Im willing to bet that if you feed phyto and cyclops that it might be able to eat that. You can try some direct feeding with a eye dropper once you get it.

I have had mine for about 2 years now. I don't feed anything special but I feed my corals often and I have very fat fish which means I haves lots of stuff in my water which is why I think it has done so well. I had talked to someone at MACNA about these guys, I think it was the guy at the DT's booth, anyway they said that they are possible to keep long term you just have to have plenty of nutrients in your water in order to do so. They filter feed only. IMO there better off in the wild most of them die and I don't think I would have gotten mine if I knew what I know now about responsible reef keeping.
