Flame Scallops Breeding

I have 2 flame scallops and one appears to stick something out of him into the other scallop. And then I noticed I have a little shell in my tank with some white things inside and then theres things hanging off the side of the tank and the scallops are right up against the glass by them and whenever something comes by they close their shells. Could they be breeding? The things hanging off the side of the tank are long skinny things with white bulbs at the end.

Scallops are broadcast spawners, so that's not what your seeing. I'd need a picture to see what your talking about the long skinny things and white bulbs.

Sounds like byssal glands.
