A pair of flame wrasses were delivered but the male died. Should I go for a trio or just replace the male? The search isn't working. Do trio's last long?

Flames are notroious for all changing male after awhile. I would just keep one because males of the same species in fairy wrasses don't like each other much.

Get another one I have a pair having been doing great for a Long time. To save money just buy females they will change in 6 months to a year. If you got a trio get 2 females and one male I would prefer a pair. That's just me.

The males do not ship well for some reason. Get another female and let nature do it's thing. It doesn't take long for the dominant female to change.

agree with everyone, dont get a male. last time i ordered 2 females and the dominant one turned male within 2 months. If i might ask where are you getting them from? Best specimens i have ever seen came straight from a diver.

I agree. Shipping male flame wrasses is problematic. Get two females of different sizes and as said above, let nature do it's thing.

Just ordered 2 females from PIA. Never ordered from them before but reviews are good. Prices were awesome as well.

I ordered a pair from PIA. The male was looking half died when I got him and died the next day. Sad, beautiful fish thou.
The female is doing good and the bimac anthias eat like crazy.
The eightline flasher was DOA.
Kevin has really been great.

I had this problem with males. Had 2 shipped to me and both died the first day. The females all made it until about 3 months later when they started dying one by one(had 4 total, one had turned male too) until 6 months in I had no flames.

DOHC and Billy- What did you start feeding your flames? Mine will be here Thursday. I have frozen mysis and angel formula, NLS and a few other dry foods as well as som eof the gel based foods.
Thanks
Walt

FYI: I bought a nice pair of Fames in Dec 2010. The male was large and the female was very petite. Every evening the male would court the female and it was great fun to watch. Now just over a year later the female is changing to a male and they are already sparing with each other. I'm concerned about how this is going, could get ugly.
