Flame Wrasse

I currently have a male flame wrasse in my qt tank. It has been in there for a week and was doing well. Eating right away etc. Yesterday I fed the fish real heavy as I was doing a 20% water change on the tank. Today the fish is hiding and will not eat. I am a little concerned since I know the males tend to be a little finicky in adapting to captivity. Do you think the water change stressed the fish out, is still full from yesterday, to much selcon or zoe? I am debating putting the fish into my dispaly as I feel it would be more comfortable in a reef setting. Water parameters are in check. It is a 55 gallon tank with fake coral decor that I keep running 24/7 365.

Thanks,
Eric

Most of my wrasse were very shy while in QT. Once in the display they joined right in with the other fish.

From what I've read, they males are super cryptic when they're getting adjusted just as the other posters have said. Right now, I've got a male Flame that's been in QT since last Tuesday also. The female I got with him is very outgoing and acting like any other wrasse but my male still hides unless I'm doing a water change, then he checks stuff out once the filter and airstone are off and promptly goes back into hiding. I saw him eat the first couple of days but not since. However, the person that takes care of them during the day while I'm at work (helps to have awesome roomates) thinks she's seen him eat in the afternoon feedings. Fingers are crossed that he is eating for her and just doesn't like me!

I actually read an article that there was a water main breakin my town and all tap water should be avoided or boiled if used. Well this was a few days ago and I actually used that water to make up the Water Change. I am sure the RODI unit took most of the pollution out but I wonder if it had any effect. More interesting is I added fresh carbon to the tank this morning changed out a few gallons of water and now the fish is back to eating. Not super eating like it was. Took down some pawn roe and live brine. Still would not touch mysis or spirulina brine. Maybe related, maybe not?
