mine scuttles all over the sand bed. i feel like shooting him everytime he lands on my trachy
LOL. yea I know dude.
He was landing on my feather dusters.
And theres like a mini mountain kind of thing in my tank made with my live rocks and behind it theres a big space.
I wake up in the morning and I dont know HOW he gets to the back of there. OR even how he jumped up into the over flow box.
Theres a big space between the highs point of the rocks and the top of the over flow box.
I thought it got picked up by the fans for a sec

is the tank really small or something?
urchins and scallops kinda need a high amount of biological food stuffs, like phytoplankton and copepods, in order to survive in a tank.
in most cases, even mature tanks are unable to sustain their foodsource, and they starve to death, along with many other scavengers and non-photosynthetic filter feeders.
that is probably a wise decision that will prevent one or two untimely deaths.
alot of times, the most responsible thing a hobbyist can do is just say no... not all tanks and setups are cutout to handle different kinds of marine life.

ya. filter feeding inverts like corals, tube worms, clams; also nudibranchs, sea slugs, urchins, and others require phytoplankton in order to survive. its a good food to have handy for any tank with inverts

clams are filter feeders. spot feeding will only irritate it. you can add the phyto in a flow area directed towards the clam for the best feeding style, but most of their energy actually comes from the sugars produced by their zoxanthellae in their gastrodermal layer. (in laymans terms, they are mostly photosythetic, like plants.)

And the clam is a Tridacnid clam.
Also IMO tank is a bit over crowded.

OH! And I got my tank from my friend. And when he gave it to me I found stowaways!
There were 2 spider crabs hiding in the far back of the tank

well for starters,
the "red thing" is a sponge, i dont know the scietific name for it, but thats what it is.
the shrimp is actually called a fire shrimp
your urchin is a pencil urchin
the "other thing you dont know the name of" is a euphyllia divisa coral, also commonly called a torch coral.
the anemone actually looks like a galaxea coral IMO, are you positive its an anemone, maybe its just me, but it doesnt look like one im familiar with.
and lastly, the frog tongue coral, which looks pretty nice, you can just call it a tongue coral. you lucked out, cuz normally they are kinda boring but you got a real nice one

and what the heck is a spider crab? are you sure its not an arrow crab? they lok alot like a spider
well the shop and this book on all reef fishes and inverts said the shrimp is called either blood shrimp or fire shrimp.
torch coral. sounds cool HAHHA.
I think its an anemone. I got it from my friend when I bought the thing from him. Forgot what he said its called. Hes the guy that is helping me with most of the stuff I have problems with.

i was almost positive the "anemone" was a galaxea. its actually a coral, not an anemone.
ive never heard them called spider crabs before, just emerald crabs.
sponges dont move, they dont have any sort of cillia-like organs/nelles. they are stationary invertebrates. sometimes stuff just falls because of flow, or something pushes it ove, especially reclusive emerald crabs looking for food to scavenge of the bottom of rocks and such.
and dont worry, we were all noobs at one time. as you learn youll become more familiar with all the cool little inhabitants that the hobby has to offer. the coolest thing i think about this whole hobby is that theres always new things that people are trying to keep in captivity. you know, with dogs, theres only so many species... same with cats, horses, etc. but marine fish, theres thousand and thousands of species, and so many more invertebratesw, cnidarians, so many endless possibilities that all culminate into our trial and error frontier of reef hobb-ing.
i dont think i could ever get sick of my fish-box. lol
