Just wondering, how much do these guys go for?

when I have seen them they were around them about $150 US ther one of the fish people want because they are so cool looking but then end up DOA! I know they are considered a difficult fish very difficult probably much worse then a Idol!

So the only reason they end up dead is because of stress? Interesting... Found some fore sale. Not sure if they are 100% the same but look exactly the same and they go for $16.99-$23.99!

these guys are pretty sensitive land hard to keep like most nicer Tiles

the reason I posted this thread 1st was this another fish that shows up every few months. People either just bought one or wanna buy it. the reason for the post is more to discourage then encourage. I am curious though if anybody has had success say a couple years. so far the longest I have heard is 6 months. :rolleye1:

Don't they flash when they are stressed or scared? Or do they flash occasionally? Because if they only flash when stressed or scared you might as well get those dartfish that I posted for 17-24 bucks because those tilefish need a very peaceful environment, which equals to no flashing.

yep

yep

I also have 4 zerbra darts and got them from a local reefer for $10 each!! There are 2 pairs(2 males and 2 females). Mine are no smaller than 5 inches for sure. How big are yours and are yours pairs?

Mine are the same 2 males 2 females I am thinking about getting a couple more they are a great community fish and lots of personality I love the way the lights come on and one darts out then 2-3-4 and vice versa mine are in the 4-5" grouping and they are pigs right up there getting food with a Durgeon trigger and a blue face angel. and a mean Melanurus wrasse etc. but no fear on these guys.

Yeah, they are AWESOME fish! I have other dart fish as well, I also have a pair of fire fish and was thinking about getting a pair of Scissortail Dartfish. What are your thoughts on mixing dartfish? They don't seem aggressive what so ever.

true Darts are not an aggressive fish so I see no problems! I think the Zebra are a underrated fish! I could honestly have 10 of them in my 200. nobody talks about them seems like ever.

Sweet! I'm going to get myself a pair of Scissortail Dartfish then. :D

I have one and it is now approaching six months. Who knows . . .

Updates on this, Steve? How did he do?

I had one that lived almost a year. He would've lived longer if he hadn't jumped out of the tank. :(

I think getting one that's been handled correctly is the first hurdle, then getting them to eat prepared foods without starving is the next hurdle. Once you get past that, keeping them in the darn tank is a task.

I got a Blue Jaw Tilefish in April 2010 and he's doing great. He even moved from WI to PA with me in January. He has his face out of the water most of the time, trying to jump out. But he eats well and is comfortable, not shy at all.
