Floating Hydrometer

I used one for a little while, but I didn't like it. They are accurate, but the ones sold for aquarium use try to cover too large a range of SG. As a result, it's very difficult to get a precise reading.

You can get a really good one from a laboratory supply vendor, but the price is close to what a refractometer would cost ($45).

get a refractometer and make sure you buy calibration solution to go along with it, dont just calibrate it with water.

I had the glass hydrometer and killed alot of corals. I thought they were acurate but I was wrong. Now I use a refractometer

If you go with either make sure you calibrate it appropriately. Go to reef chemistry forum and see randys recipe for calibration solutions for each unit. i agree with not calibrating them with water .
