Flood prevention with an overflow box

Can't I just mount my pump up high in my sump? Would that be a fire risk? I imagine it would be anyway mounted lower, if it is. I'd rather blow a pump than flood my living room.

Yes you can but you need to consider evaporation will occurr in the return pump compartment of your sump.

You can use a float switch to prevent an overflow. What kind of overflow box is it? If there is a tapping on top to get the air out you can attach an aqualifter to it and keep it running all the time.
