Flow and stocking question

Hi

Im having trouble with cyano. it appears on sand and live rock

is this because I dont have enough flow? I have two powerhead

(each 3200gph) shooting flow from back corner of the tank

to the middle. how can I solve this problem?

here is another question for you guys. how often can I add

fish?.

and If i go from Reeflo orca 250 to ATB medium is this an

upgrade?

Cyano doesn't always appear due to lack of flow, some people have even had it grow on powerheads. Like other nuisance algae, cyano grows due to excess nutrients in the water (even though it is a bacteria). Do water changes, run some carbon, and be patient. Many people will advise you to put products like chemiclean, red slime, etc. in the tank. IMO use any sort of chemicals to treat is just being impatient and if you overdose you might kill some of the beneficial bacteria as well (since more chemicals are antibiotics), if you underdose, it will keep coming back. Best bet is to tackle the SOURCE of the cyano so it never comes back.

As for fish, I would wait 1-2 weeks between each addition.

Hope that helps.
