Flow for SPS in a 29g nano

Do you like Phil Collins?
Do you guys think that a seio 620 which is 650gph and my 300gph return would be enought flow to keep any sps in my 29??

i think that it shoudl be a good flow for sps, but in a smaller tank it will be hard for softies and fish to find low flow zones, but that may be what you want

As for fish in that type of flow...I've got two chromis and a sixline that seem to love it, but my midas blenny has acted like he doesn't know how to swim anymore since I added the new fish and the seio...

If it will make you feel better, I run two seio 820's in my SPS 30 gallon cube and I'm thinking about switching one out for the 1100.

remember, it's not as much about the gph you can flow, but how you use it...use it well, and you can get by with a lot less than if you don't use it smartly

I've got a 600gph return, seio 820, and mj1200 in my 29gal. I'm going to mod a mj600 to increase it and remove the mj1200.

I really like using closed loop systems and using GPH. imo its not about direct flow its about circulating more water. Tunze streams or even seios are the best way to go if you’re not using close loops. Also tunze has a new nano stream coming out that will be controllable, may want to look into that as well

I use two 820's in my 29 in addition to a 400gph return pump. No sandstorms so im fine with it. Plus my anthias enjoy it.

The tunzes aren't out until like december, but I think that I'm going to get a pair as well as a controller when they do.

I have mostly Softies & LPS and had to take out my M820 because it was beginning to damage my Hammer & Torch Coral and blow away my softies ... However I will be adding SPS thanks to Eric a.k.a. Calvin415 and will try to keep them in a no to low flow zone ... we'll see how they do ;)

i have a panworld 100 and two 1100 seio's and a mag7 going through a jbj chillere intothe tank .. i think you might need alittle more flow.

Is your setup BB?, why do you need two Seio's 1100 in such a small volume?

There is no specific minimum or perfect amount of flow for sps. Montipora can grow and live in almost no flow, with that being said, it will grow less dense than it would in higher flow. Just because someone on Reefcentral has 40x turnover in their 30 gallon tank does not mean that sps will only thrive under those conditions. I highly agree with the comment above that a decent amount of flow used in the right way can be sufficient. Judge a person's comments by what their tank looks like.
